What Is The Function Of The Shielding Layer Of The Control Cable?

Leave a message

Control cables are generally composed of conductors, insulation layers, outer tapes, and outer sheaths. The function of the insulation layer is to prevent leakage accidents and ensure electrical safety; The function of the outer sheath layer is to reduce the damage and erosion caused by the external environment to the wires and cables; The inner cladding is mainly used to protect the conductor. However, there is also a special protective layer inside the control cable, which we generally refer to as the shielding layer. The main reason for the existence of this shielding layer is:

1. The meaning of shielding is to terminate the electrons in the electric field on the surface of the shielding body and introduce them to the ground, thereby achieving the function of separating the electric field. The shielding layer protects the cable core inside the shielding body from the interference of external strong electric fields, which is of great significance for control cables, communication cables, computer and instrument cables.

2. We all know that when current flows, a magnetic field is generated, and the larger the current passing through, the stronger the magnetic field. In order to prevent the generated magnetic field from affecting surrounding equipment or devices, a shielding layer is added to ensure that the generated magnetic field is shielded inside the cable.

3. The shielding layer can play a certain role in leakage protection. If the cable is damaged and leaks electricity during use, the shielding layer can lead the leaked current to the grounding wire, providing a certain level of safety protection. At the same time, it also has the function of protecting cable conductors. Interestingly, the current flowing through the control cable during use is generally not very high, but it still has the same shielding layer. The main function of the shielding layer possessed by the control cable is to shield the control cable from external influences. Because the control cable transmits signals that are subject to external influences and fluctuations, a shielding protection layer is added to protect the interior of the control cable. And this is where the function of controlling the size of the cable shielding layer lies.
