The difference between photovoltaic cables and ordinary cables

Photovoltaic cable is a specialized line for solar photovoltaic cables, with models including PV1-F,H1Z2Z2-K.What is the difference between solar photovoltaic lines and ordinary wires? Why can't ordinary wires be applied to solar photovoltaic power generation?

Below, we will compare and analyze the differences between the conductor, insulation, sheath, and application scenarios of the wire.

【Conductor 】

Photovoltaic cable: Copper conductor or tinned copper conductor

Ordinary cable: Copper conductor or tinned copper conductor

【 Insulation 】

Photovoltaic cable: irradiated cross-linked polyolefin insulation

Ordinary cables: insulated with polyvinyl chloride (PVC) or cross-linked polyethylene

【Sheath 】

Photovoltaic cable: irradiated cross-linked polyolefin insulation

Ordinary cable: PVC sheath

Through the above introduction, we can find that photovoltaic wires and ordinary wires have the same conductor, but their difference is the material of their insulation layer and sheath.

Radiation crosslinked polyolefin has strong environmental adaptability, chemical corrosion resistance, creep resistance, and high temperature resistance, with a maximum rated temperature of 125 ℃.

Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) has the advantages of structural stability, high chemical resistance, good mechanical strength, and insulation properties. However, PVC has poor stability to light and heat, with a maximum rated temperature of 55 ℃.

Cross linked polyethylene has a network structure and excellent heat resistance. Its insulation performance should also be higher than that of PE material. The hardness, stiffness, wear resistance, and impact resistance of mechanical properties have all been improved. Chemical resistance, strong acid and alkali resistance, and oil resistance. The maximum rated temperature is 90 ℃.

Due to the particularity of photovoltaic power generation systems, there are special requirements for photovoltaic lines. Photovoltaic lines need to have weather resistance, high temperature resistance, friction resistance, UV radiation resistance, ozone resistance, hydrolysis resistance, acid resistance, salt resistance, etc., and irradiated cross-linked polyolefins meet this characteristic. Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) or cross-linked polyethylene insulation has slightly lower heat resistance than irradiated cross-linked polyolefin insulation, so ordinary wires cannot be applied to photovoltaic lines.
